Imphal, August 03:
Calling upon the State security force personnel to exercise maximum restraint while dealing with protestors, the Working Committee of the Apunba Lup desired that all the Ministers and MLAs join the mass protest.
Security personnel should bear in mind that the common people are not their enemies but are launching the agitation only to ensure a secured life through lifting of AFSPA that has not only failed to serve its purpose but has alienated the masses.
The people, despite bearing the excesses of the police personnel do not hold any grudges against the security personnel as the ongoing movement is to ensure the right of everyone living in Manipur, said the Lup in a statement.
As the main objective of the security force is to protect its citizens and assist the civil administration there is no logic to use force to disperse peacefully and democratically organized agitation, contended the Lup.
Decrying the frequent visit of Chief Minister O Ibobi to New Delhi to consult Central leaders on the demands to lift AFSPA which can be revoked by the State Government, the statement lamented that inaction by the Ministers arid MLAs reflects lack of knowledge of the peoples' sentiment.
Appealing to all section of the society to join the ongoing court arrest movement, the Lup stressed on Ministers and MLAs also join the agitation to showcase to the Centre that people of Manipur have had suffered tremendously due to imposition of AFSPA in Manipur.
