Imphal, June 03 2016 :
BJP MLA Kh Joykishan has asked the State Government to prove that whatever action it has initiated against JCILPS convenor Khomdram Ratan is in compliance with the statutes of the land.
Speaking to media persons at his Khoyathong residence, Joykishan said that BJP would launch intense modes of agitation together with the masses for trampling democratic values and violation of human rights if the State Government cannot vindicate whatever action it has initiated against Kh Ratan within 10 days.
Projecting Kh Ratan as a member of the UNLF and declaration of Rs five lakh reward to anyone who can provide information leading to his arrest is an attempt to suppress the popular pro-ILPS movement.
By declaring Kh Ratan as a wanted man, the State Government has exposed its stiff opposition to enforcement of ILPS or a similar mechanism in Manipur, Joykishan said.
He asked the Government whether the image which shows Kh Ratan holding a flag of the UNLF was a genuine copy or an edited one.
It is everybody's knowledge that many edited or doctored images are uploaded in social networking sites.
Asking whether Manipur Police would tender an apology to Ratan if the particular photograph turns out to be an edited or forged one, Joykishan questioned whether any FIR has been registered against Ratan presuming the photograph is genuine.
He went on to question if any warrant of arrest has been issued against Ratan and whether any Court has declared Ratan as an absconder.
He further asked Manipur Police if they know the three other people who were shown together with Ratan in the particular photograph.
Joykishan then accused the State Government of trying to sabotage the sustained pro-ILPS movement.
By declaring the JCILPS convenor as a wanted movement, the State Government was trying to project the genuine people's movement as some other movement instigated by insurgents.
If the Government is determined to adopt a dictatorial posture, then there is no place for democracy in the land.
BJP will fight back in a befitting manner all forces which are challenging the Constitution of India and democracy.
