Cop with drugs worth Rs 7.59 Cr held

A team of State police arrested two persons including one police Constable along with 92 soap cases of brown sugar worth around Rs 7.59 crore in the international market from Tengnoupal police station checkpost on April 1 .
The two arrested persons have been identified as Constable D Letkholun Haokip (37), s/o D Dongthang Haokip of Lajangphai village Churachandpur and Ngamkhohao Haokip (22), s/o Seikholun Haokip of Songpeh village, Churachandpur.
They were travelling in a Honda City car with Manipur registration number.
Reportedly, Churachand-pur police station has been intimated about the arrest of Constable D Letkholun Haokip who is posted at Churachandpur Police Reserve Line.

Police sources said that the police personnel at Tengnoupal police check post along NH-102(Imphal-Moreh section) detected the contraband drug s in the car during routine frisking and checking on Imphal-bound vehicles from Moreh around 8 am on Saturday.
An FIR has been registered under NDPS Act against the police Constable and his associate and investigation has been initiated to find the kingpins.
Today's drug seizure at the same check post was after the recent arrest of three alleged drug peddlers with contraband drugs worth over Rs 4 crore on March 30 last.
Chief Minister N Biren Singh who lauded the police personnel involved in the drug haul, in a Facebook post, wrote, "Whoever they may be, anybody involving in drug business will not be tolerated, " adding that it was very unfortunate to find police personnel involved in drug trafficking.
After he assumed office as the Chief Minister of the state for the second consecutive term, N Biren Singh declared "war on drugs 2.0'' while reiterating his Government's commitment towards making Manipur a drug-free State.
The Chief Minister had also strongly warned all those involved in drug trafficking to surrender or face severe consequences as per the law of the land.
