Subsequently, 12 family members of the man were picked up by health workers today and their samples are being tested at RIMS.
Meanwhile, Thoubal district administration has sealed off the residential area of the second COVID-19 patient.
The State Health Department has banned movement of people within 3 Km radius of the area where the man's residence is located.
It is said that all the people residing within the 3 Km radius would be tested.
The man arrived at Imphal from Delhi in an Air India flight on March 11 .
He was admitted to Peace Hospital and Research Institute located at Porompat Muslim Road on March 20 following certain health complaints.
He was discharged from the hospital on March 22, said the sources.
Altogether 16 staff of the private hospital who were directly involved in treating the man (now tested positive for COVID-19) have been taken to JNIMS for necessary tests.
It is said that the man from Lilong has been suffering from fever, urinary tract infection, diabetes and kidney ailments.
The 16 staff of Peace Hospital and Research Institute would be quarantined within their own hospital, said the sources.
Meanwhile, the Government has asked 31 persons who travelled together with the COVID-19 positive man up to Imphal in the same flight to contact the Common Control Room opened at the Chief Minister's office on 1800-345-3818 and give their particulars.
Sample of another man who too attended the Nizamuddin congregation was tested at JNIMS yesterday but its result turned out to be inconclusive.
The same sample was tested again today and it turned out to be negative.
Health workers have been tracing the travel history of the man who has been found positive for COVID-19 .
Nine other people, all of whom attended the Nizamu-ddin congregation, have been placed in a quarantine centre even though their samples tested negative for COVID-19 .
