Budget hikes allocation for 8 NE States to Rs 43245 crore

Guwahati, February 01 2017:
Union Budget 2017-18 has increased the total allocation for eight Northeastern states from Rs 32180 Crore of 2016-17 to Rs 43245 Crore.
Finance Minister Arun Jaitley has increased the transfer from Centre from Rs 31422 crore to Rs 42499 crore.
The allocation of Ministry of DoNER is increased from Rs 2524.42 crore to Rs 2682.45 crore.
Local industry body, Federation of Industry and Commerce of the North East Region (FINER) has expressed satisfaction over the budget provisions.
"Discarding populism the budget is focused on rural areas.
The decision to bring accountability in political funding is path breaking move," the industry body added.
