Imphal, June 30, 2012:
North East India Sampark Cell (NEISC) and BJP Manipur Pradesh have strongly condemned the derogatory and uncalled-for remarks by congress MLA from Punjab Ajit Singh Mofar about sending stray dogs from the northern State to the north east.
"His remarks are insulting to people living in the region.
This is a generalised comment stemmed out of ignorance.
He (Mofar) should exercise more restrain while making such comments as he is an elected representative," fumed a State unit BJP statement issued today by its Media Affairs secretary L Bashanta Sharma.
Pointing out that when extra efforts are being made to take care of the region such comments defeat the very purpose of improving emotional bonding, the BJP secretary also termed as strongly objectionable the Punjab MLA mentioning Nagaland, Mizoram and China in same vein.
Demanding unconditional apology from Ajit Singh Mofar and noting the MLA's own party advising him to stick to skating, Bashanta posed "If he slips while skating he may heart himself but if his tongue slips like this many people may get hurt".
