Imphal, March 31 2022:
The Southern Angami Public Organisation (SAPO) has suspended the 'indefinite bandh' called along National Highway 2 within its jurisdiction with certain conditions today.
The decision to suspend the indefinite bandh was taken after deliberation with its governing body and frontal organisations, said a statement issued by SAPO.
SAPO president Kevipodi Sophie and general secretary Swelul Pucho stated that the decision to suspend the bandh was taken based on the ultimatum served by Tenyimi People's Organisation (TPO) to withdraw police forces from Kezolta and to lift the blockade thereof published on March 31 in local dailies.
The decision was also taken following a request from the Angami Public Organisation (APO) to lift the indefinite bandh in view of its upcoming 50th year celebration on April 8 .
SAPO, however, notified that the lifting of indefinite bandh is only a temporary measure.
It stated that SAPO would be constrained to initiate its own course of action if the Government of Manipur fails to adhere to the ultimatum served by TPO.
