Sharing his family background and inconveniences he faced while preparing for the CBSE examination, Ismat said he lost his mother at the age of two.
Further conveying that he has six elder sisters, the topper informed that due to erratic power supply he could concentrate only about two hours of study after dusk, in candle light.
Another problem pointed out by Ismat was the financial constraints of his family which often led to embarrassing situations when he could not afford to pay even the bus fare to reach Zenith Academy from his Lilong Haoreibi home.
Ismat also expressed gratitude to one Oja (teacher) Manaoton for the latter's financial assistance in purchasing books and other study materials.
Meanwhile, State Bank of India, Imphal Branch (MG Avenue) felicitated md Ismat by presenting a laptop to the AISSCE topper.
