While decrying the Government of Manipur's initiative to open a designated camp of KNLF at Semol, the meeting decided to approach the State Government with an appeal to abort the same initiative.
Another resolution of the joint meeting was to prohibit accommodation of UG groups under ceasefire agreement, SoO pact or surrendered to Government in the area so as to maintain tranquillity and promote cordial relationship between different communities.
Village chiefs present at the meeting said that what people wish are peace and development.
Instead of opening designated camps here and there, it would be more beneficial to open educational institutes.
They cautioned that all sorts of agitation would be launched in case the initiative to open a designated camp of KNLF at Semol is not aborted at the earliest.
After the meeting, the chiefs chanted slogans like "No more designated camps should be opened in Chandel district", "We want peace and progress", "Remove KNLF's camp from Semol village" etc.
