Imphal, November 21 2016:
The All Manipur United Clubs' Organisation (AMUCO) has condemned the multiple bomb attacks carried out at some places of Imphal yesterday when all sections of people are reeling under extreme misery on account of the UNC's indefinite economic blockade and the counter blockade imposed by some sections of people which has been further compounded by demonetisation of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes.
Triggering bomb blasts within AIR compound at such a juncture smacked of a disconnect between the masses and those who carried out the bomb attacks, AMUCO remarked in a statement.
Any violence at the time of Manipur Sangai Tourism Festival which is aimed at promoting Manipur as an international tourism destination would paint an ugly picture of the land.
It would have definitely created a negative impression among all the foreign diplomats and delegates who have gathered here for the annual calendar event.
"It is time to show our hospitality and cordiality to all the foreigners rather than exposing internal rifts", AMUCO asserted.
It went on to say that the bomb blasts at AIR compound exposed security lapses.
It urged the Government to take up all possible measures to thwart any subversive or violent activities during Manipur Sangai Tourism Festival.
