Imphal, January 20 2022:
The National president of Janata Dal-United (JD-U) Nitish Kumar is likely to land at Imphal on January 27 to hold a discussion on ticket related matters for the 12th State Assembly election.
Nitish Kumar is the Chief Minister of Bihar.
Speaking to the media at Keishamthong Hodam Leirak today, JD-U State unit secretary general Maisnam Dorendro said that the party is preparing to field 15-20 candidates in the election.
Saying that JDU National president will visit Manipur on January 27 to talk about the issuance of party tickets, Dorendro maintained that 17 candidates from different Constituencies have so far approached the party seeking tickets.
The social media post which claims that JD-U Khurai unit endorses Khurai AC MLA is unfounded, he clarified and said that one Ningthoujam Bihari and a group of people who went to the MLA's house have nothing to do with the party.
He then condemned the group for using JD-U's flag without the consent of the party.
Vice president of JD-U, Manipur legal cell Amujao Elangbam said that the conduct of Bihari was to malign their image and project the party in a bad light and as such legal proceedings will be initiated.
JDU intending candidate from Khurai AC Toijam Lokendro said that what Bihari had done was narrow politics and asked the group to clarify at the earliest.
