Drivers to continue stir

All Manipur Petroleum Tanker Drivers Union has decided to continue their steering-off stir even though CAF & PD Minister Ksh Biren has promised that the Government will bear all the medical expenses of injured driver Usham Gojen (20) of Khurkhul Sabok Leikai.
Gojen was seriously injured as the bandh supporters of All Manipur Written Test Successful Candidates of Manipur Police Constable Male 2013, attacked his vehicle at Karong in Senapati district while he was heading towards Imphal on August 17 last.
He is still undergoing treatment at the ICU ward of Rajmedicity in a critical condition.
The Minister visited Gojen at the hospital today.
He urged the drivers to call off their stir assuring that the Government would bear Gojen's medical expenses.
The Minister told the drivers that the Chief Secretary had written to his Nagaland counterpart regarding collection of illegal taxes by miscreants on NH-2 .
He also promised that the State Government would put in maximum efforts to reduce the inconveniences faced by drivers on the National Highways.
On the otherhand, All Manipur Petroleum Tanker Drivers Union functionary Karam Suresh said that they would continue their steering-off stir until their demands are fulfilled.
He said that such unwanted incidents have been happening despite the Government's repeated assurances.
The State Government must arrange an alternative livelihood for Gojen if he is unable to return to his profession as he is seriously injured.
He further said that the Government must take up immediate measures to check collection of illegal taxes by miscreants on National Highways.
