Imphal, January 18, 2012:
Along with the formal release of a 22-point common minimum programme, leaders of the People's Democratic Front today asserted that the five-party political conglomerate will emerge as the single largest party and form a non-Congress Government after election to the 10th Manipur Legislative Assembly.
PDF is a pre-poll alliance of the Manipur People's Party, Nationalist Congress Party, Janata Dal (United), Communist Party of India (Marxist) and Rashtriya Janata Dal.
The alliance's CMP was formally released by PDF convenor Dr Nimaichand Luwang at the MPP office complex today in the presence of leaders of the coalition partners including former Lok Sabha Speaker PA Sangma, Arunkumar Srivastav, former Chief Minister of Manipur Radhabinod Koijam, M Tombi and Ksh Shantikumar.
Claiming that election campaign of the PDF is proceeding in a smooth and cordial manner, Dr Nimaichand Luwang exuded confidence that a non-Congress Government would be established in Manipur for inputs have been received from non-Congress political parties willing to work with the PDF after the election.

Responding to a query from media persons on who will be the PDF leader, leaders of the alliance partners were unanimous that the leader would be chosen from among the coalition partners with maximum number of MLAs.
While conceding that there is neither difference nor consensus on the leadership issue, the political leaders also contended that inspite of scrutiny by the election authorities grand feasts to woo voters, use of money, muscle and gun power in the run-up to the election have been rampant.
It may be reminded that out of 43 PDF candidates fielded for the election, the NCP is contesting in 22 seats, MPP 14, JD (U) five, and CPI-M two.
In three assembly segments there would be friendly contest among the PDF partners.
