All Manipur Students' Union, (AMSU) will organize a function to celebrate the 18th Manipur Language Day on August 20 at AMSU headquarters in the DM College Campus.
In a press release, Information and Publicity Secretary, AMSU H Q L Ranendra reminded that Manipuri Language was included in the 8th Schedule of the Indian Constitution on August 20, 1992.He said that AMSU had launched various agitations to press upon the government of India to include Manipuri Language in the 8th Schedule of the Indian Constitution.
Numerous Representations to realize the demand were submitted to the then Prime Minister of India and AMSU even took out a sit in protest in front of Parliament House in Delhi to drive their agitation harder, the press release claimed.
