Umpteen sacrifices of valiant heroes commemorated on Patriots' Day

Many organisations observed the Patriots' Day widely across the State and commemorated the supreme sacrifices of the brave warriors who fought valiantly against the British Forces and laid down their lives in the Anglo Manipuri War of 1891 to protect the integrity of their motherland.
United Committee Manipur (UCM) in association with UCM, Langol Unit observed the Patriot's Day at Langol Hill Range which holds a significant place in the history of Manipur.
As a part of the observation, a social service camp was conducted and saplings were also planted at the Langol Hill Range with an aim to maintain the ecological balance and to retain the beauty of the hill range which is inhabited by people of different communities.
Coalition Against Drugs and Alcohol observed Patriot's Day at the conference hall of CADA Head Office at Konung Mamang Pureiromba Khongnang Makhong today.
Members of CADA paying homage and floral tributes to the photos of the brave martyrs were the main highlight of the event.
Patriotic Writers Forum (PAWF) Manipur, Assam and Tripura also held an online observation of the Patriots' Day today.
The main event of the observation was the poetry reading session, 'Athoubasing Sheitha Sheireng Sheidinnaba' which was presided by the president of PAWF Manipur, Naoroibam Khamba Luwang.
As observed widely across the State, the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal observed Patriots' Day today at its new examination hall.

Prof A Santa Singh led in paying floral tributes to the heroes of Manipur who fought against the British during Anglo-Manipuri War, media advisor of RIMS said in a press release.
Communist Party of India, Manipur State Council organised Patriots' Day celebration at five different places namely Kangmong, Lamsang, Kakching, Tentha and Bishnupur today.
The BJP Imphal East district also observed Patriots' Day in a simple ceremony held at the residence of H Subhas at Kongpal Kongham Leikai today.
Speaking on the occasion Heisnam Subhas who is the Vice president of BJP Imphal East district recalled the umpteen sacrifices of the valiant heroes and the current generation should follow the footsteps of the brave martyrs and strive for a developed Manipur.
In the programme which was attended by vice president of BJP Mahila Morcha, Imphal East, K Inaocha, members of BJP Imphal East district and Election Committee for H Subhas, the State song 'Sana Leibak Manipur' was played and floral tributes were paid to the photos of Bir Tikendrajit and Thangal General.
Joining in the observation of the Patriots' Day, Rotary Club of Imphal distributed umbrellas to the traffic police personnel at various traffic points at four district head quarters namely Imphal East, Imphal West, Thoubal and Bishnupur districts acknowledging the service of the traffic police personnel amid the rain and shine for the safety of our community.
Justice Committee on Anglo Manipuri War 1891, Martyrs and Freedon Fighters of Kangleipak (Justice Committee 1891) in association with RK Kalasana, Sagolhanjaba and RK Sana Nganba, Lourungpurel Memorial Committee also commemorated the day.
Manipur University, Manipur Literary and Cultural Forum, Huyen Lallong Manipur Thang-Ta Cultural Association, Irilbung, Council of Higher Secondary Education Manipur (COHSEM), Manipur Adventure and Allied Sports Institute (MAASI), Keirao, The Temple of Universal Peace Awareness cum Arts & Cultural Academy (TUPAACA), Bright Way Club of Kwakeithel Lamdong Leikai, Khundrakpam Kendra Youth's Organization (KHUKYO) and Students Welfare Committee in coordination with Pheijaleitong Apunba Meira Paibi too joined in observing the Patriots' Day.
The selfless contributions of the valiant heroes were recalled and homage and floral tributes were paid which were the main events of the various programmes held in different places.
