4 abductors including 2 women held, 2 rescued

Thoubal district commandos arrested four abductors including two women and rescued two persons today.
One Bolero jeep, one .32 pistol and six mobile phones used in the commission of the crime have been recovered, said police.
Thoubal district Superintendent of Police S Ibomcha briefed media persons this evening and said the kidnappers have been identified as Ningthoujam Romajit (35), s/o Khomdon of Bengi Makha Leikai, Thiyam Joyshree (45), w/o (L) Robin of Heirangoithong Bazar, Nahakpam Meme Devi (49), w/o Narjit of Charangpat Maning Leikai and Kangabam Jadumani (50), s/o Dijamani @ Tejamani of Charangpat Mamang Leikai.
They had demanded a ransom of Rs 50 lakh.
The persons rescued are identified as Birendra Saha (40), s/o Khilawan Saha of Bihar at present staying at Kasturi bridge and Sanjoy Patel (40), s/o Arjun Choudary of Bihar at present staying at Sani Mandir Thangal bazar.
They were abducted on June 9.The abductors had instructed the family members of the victims to come to Charangpat with the ransom money.
They had used one of the victim's mobile phone.
The Thoubal district police including women personnel, commando personnel, district intelligence unit and Cyber Crime unit led by S Sachidananda, Additional SP Operation Thoubal conducted the rescue operation.
After receiving specific inputs that the ransom amount was going to be handed over to the kidnappers at Yairipok Lamkhai and they (kidnappers) will be coming in a white Bolero Jeep bearing registration number MN07D-2973, a team of Cyber Crime unit was deployed at Charangpat to observe "movement" in the area.
All other teams were also alerted and deployed to rescue the victims, said SP Ibomcha.
The police located the Bolero Jeep at around 11.42 am at Charangpat Mamang Leikai and tailed the vehicle for some time.
Later, it was chased down by a commando team and intercepted at Yairipok Lamkhai arresting three persons including the two women and a male driver (N Romajit) .
On questioning, they admitted that they had come to collect the ransom amount as "instructed" by Kangabam Jadumani, the fourth kidnapper.
They also disclosed that the abducted persons were kept at K Jadumani's residence at Charangpat Mamang Leikai.
Immediately, a team led by Inspector N Sadananda, OC Thoubal commando along with police rushed to the residence and rescued the abducted persons and arrested Kangabam Jadumani, said S Ibomcha.
All the arrested persons and seized items have handed over to Thoubal Police Station for further investigation and legal actions, he said.
