Sessions Judge to try July 23 accused

Imphal, November 08 2011:
The two Inspectors and the seven Commando personnel accused in the July 23, 2009 Khwairamband Killing would be put on trial at the Court of Sessions Judge, Imphal East in connection with the charges of killing, destruction of evidence and giving incorrect statements.
The CBI submitted chargesheets against the accused policemen
on November 4 .
Based on these charge-sheets, the same Court issued three similar orders directing the accused policemen to stand for trial.
Inspector Yumnam Munal, Inspector Hijam Devendra, Head Constable Thounaojam Herojit and Rifleman Ngangom Toyaima have been charged under Section 214/Section 34 of IPC for furnishing incorrect statement with an intention to save other accused personnel from legal punishment in connection with the killing of Chungkham Sanjit on July 23, 2009 at Khwairamband Keithel.
The second order charged Inspector Hijam Devendra, Head Constable Thounaojam Herojit, Rifleman Toyaima, Constable Wahengbam Binoykumar, Havildar Thokchom Jagat, Rifleman Mohd Imran Khan, Head Constable Oinam Keshor and Constable Makan Kanchung Chothi under Section 302/Section 34 of the IPC for intentional killing of Chungkham Sanjit.
The third order charged Inspector Hijam Devendra and Head Constable Thounaojam Herojit under Section 203/Section 34 of the IPC for furnishing incorrect statement in connection with the July 23 Killing.
