Imphal, July 05 2011:
Commerce and Industry Minister Y Erabot, who is also Chairman of the Manipur Khadi and Village Industry Board (MKVIB) has clarified that he issued the instructions to bypass Vice-Chairman, A Sarat, because of the uduly long time he takes in processing projects and schemes, failure to dispose files in time and
holding files unnecessarily.
Notably MKVIB Vice-Chairman A Sarat tendered his resignation letter alleging that Y Erabot was unduly interfering in support of his political supporters, and also for bypassing him when it came to files and documents related to project and contract works.
Speaking to media persons at KVIB office at Lamphelpat today, Erabot stated he offered the post of Vice-Chairman to A Sarat personally in the hope that he would work sincerely.
Accordingly, due power were delegated to him under the KVIB Act 1966 .
During the period of the previous Director Borkishore, there where several instances when he acted according to his own whim in total contradiction of the UO notes written by Finance Department at the time of auctioning various vehicles.
Borkishore was removed from the post of Vice-Chairman because of many such discrepancies and irregularities.
Erabot stated that he was unaware of the faulty practices of Borkishore at the time of auctioning vehicles.
The matter came to light later after an investigation.
Even today, there are cases where some projects are being hampered due to land disputes.
These projects are further delayed because of non-disposal of necessary files in time.
Clarifying that he is not related to the people A Sarat named in his allegations against him, Erabot declared that he would retire from politics altogether if the allegations can be proved.
He added that A Sarat's resignation should be taken as accepted.
