Imphal, June 04 2016 :
At least eight students were injured in alleged police excess on students who tried to enforce the call of College Students' Council Manipur (CSCM) to boycott the BA, BSc and B Com semester examinations which began today at GP Women College.
The BA, BSc and BCom 4th semester exams however went on under security protection at GP Women's college.
At DM College of Arts, exam was disrupted by protesters while the exam was somehow conducted at DM College of Sciences.
16 girl students from Ibo- tonsana Higher Secondary School, Khurai Lamlong Higher Secondary School, TG Higher Secondary School and Meetei Mayek High School stormed the GP Women College responding to the boycott call of CSCM.

The injured students have been identified as Kh Malem-nganbi Chanu, P Maria Chan, Tomthinnganbi Toijam, Th Tina, Sanasam Preety of TG Higher Secondary School, Kh Lucky and L Shilpa of Ibotonsana Higher Secondary School and N Linthoi of Lamlong Higher Secondary School.
All of them were admitted to RIMS but N Linthoi is said to be in serious condition.
While others who sustained minor injuries were discharged from the hospital.
Keishampat Thokchom Leikai Meira Paibi gave shelter to the students.
Speaking to reporters at Radha Mandop, Keishampat Thokchom Leikai, the students alleged that they were severely harassed and thrash-ed by police personnel repeat- edly.
Preety said that they went to appeal to the students and teachers to discontinue the ongoing examination.
But a large number of police personnel led by DSP (Com- mando) Sachidananda harassed and threatened the stu- dents even when there were women police personnel.
She alleged that Sachidananda used derogatory words and hit them and inflicted serious injuries.
Such inhuman attitude from male police personnel is outrageous and unacceptable, she added.
After they were chased down by the police, she narrated that Inspector of Traffic Police Rameshwar again insulted and harassed the students for launching such protest.
Such manner from law enforcing agencies towards the people distanced the relation between the two.
They appealed to the student community to extend their support in the ongoing pro-ILPS protest movement.
They demanded that the BA and B Com examination be discontinued.
They warned of launching series of protest if the authority concerned fails to heed to the appeal.
It may be mentioned that CSCM announced to boycott the exam as the State Govt allegedly failed to release all students arrested in the course of the ongoing pro-ILP agitation launched under the Students Wing of JCILPS.
Meanwhile, president of Keishamthong Thokchom Leikai Meira Paibi Thangjam Sakhitombi stated that the harsh attitude of the State Police force is regrettable as it has crossed the limit.
The authorities concerned should keep a watch on such activities to prevent untoward incidents in future.
Meira paibis of Keishampat Mutum Leikai, Keisham Leikai, Kangabam Leikai extended their help to the students.
