Kangpokpi, March 30 2016:
Civil society organizations of Sadar Hills today have decided to resume its suspended economic blockade along Trans Asian Highway Number 1 over the failure of the contractor concerned to keep his words.
The Sadar Hills CSOs had earlier imposed an indefinite economic blockade on Trans Asian Highway Number 1 from midnight of December 2 and suspended it on December 6 at around 8 pm after a positive response from the contractor who assured to begin the work along the highway at the earliest.
The CSOs had also warned of resuming the stir if the contractor fails to keep his assurance while affirming to strictly monitor maintenance of quality while implementing the work.

However, no work has been implemented along the highway as assured by the contractor even after nearly three months while the road users experience the same problems negotiating through the numerous potholes.
CSOs spokesperson Lamcha Chongloi said that they have tolerantly waiting for the contractor to fulfil his assurance while thousands of people have to suffer while travelling through the pot holed stretch of the highway.
However, the contractor is not bothered with the extreme inconveniences the people have to face, the spokesperson added.
He also pointed out that the Trans Asian Highway Number 1 though famous as the lifeline of the State has been left unattended with shoddy works.
"Considering the failure of the contractor we have decided to resume our suspended stir if the assurance of the contractor is not put into words within a week," warned the CSOs Sadar Hills spokesperson.
The road users experience the worst situation between Keithelmanbi and Gamgiphai segment along the highway while some section between Sapormeina and Motbung is marked by potholes big enough to keel over heavy loaded vehicles.
Due to the pathetic condition of the road numerous accidents have been witnessed, he added.
With the Government turning a blind eye to the pathetic condition of the highway, it is left to the villagers to mend the same from time to time.
