Imphal, December 29 2015:
Out of 3.3 lakh LPG consumers of Manipur, around 50 consumers have opted for non-subsidised refills in place of subsidised refills.
Subsidy given on LPG refill is meant for those people who cannot afford LPG refill at its market price, said an IOC official.
Out of the many families who can afford LPG refills at market prices, around 50 consumers have offered to forgo the subsidy given on domestic LPG.
Notably, the Government of India has decided not to give any LPG subsidy to families whose annual incomes are more than Rs 10 lakh and the same initiative is likely to come into force with effect from January 1, 2016 .
There are around of 16.35 crore LPG consumers in the country.
Out of them 57.5 lakh consumers have surrendered subsidies given on LPG refills.
It is expected that many well-to-do families may follow suit in Manipur too.
Meanwhile, one consumer, on condition of anonymity, has urged K&K Gas Service to complete new connection processes as soon as possible.
The individual said that he made an online application to K&K Gas Agency for new LPG connection in May this year.
Even though all necessary documents have been submitted, no LPG connection has been given till date which is really frustrating and outrageous, said the individual.
It is said that 14 applications for new LPG connections are pending with K&K Gas Agency whose performance is rated excellent.
The distributor which has 12653 consumers has been distributing 373.19 refills in a day on the average.
All consumers who made their bookings on December 25 or earlier have been issued refills while 197 consumers who made their bookings after December 28 have been waiting for refills.
One application for new LPG connection is pending with Ashangbi Indane Gramin Vitrak, Chandel district.
Ashangbi Indane Gramin Vitrak has around 1663 active consumers and it has been distributing 129.10 refills in a day on the average.
However, its performance is rated poor.
Altogether 367 consumers who made their bookings after December 28 have been waiting for refills.
Whereas majority of the consumers have received just one refill each, 24 consumers have been issued nine refills from April this year till date, as per official records.
