Imphal, July 28 2016:
Fake encounter victim Chahotliangbou Abonmai's father D Abonmai, who had claimed that he had refused to accept a cheque of Rs 4 lakh as compensation, is found to have received the cheque from Tamenglong DC yesterday.
Based on the statement given to The Sangai Express by D Abonmai, this daily reported in its July 28 edition that he had refused to accept a cheque of Rs 4 lakh from the DC as the actual compensation amount is Rs 5.5 lakh.
However, a copy of 'Actual Payment Receipt' provided by Tamenglong DC to TSE indicated that D Abonmai had actually received Rs 4 lakh from the DC.
Abonmai was found appending signature on the receipt in the APR.
However, the APR does not mention when the remaining amount of Rs 1.5 lakh would be paid to Abonmai.
In a telephonic chat with The Sangai Express yesterday, D Abonmai had claimed that he turned down the payment of Rs 4 lakh as it was not Rs 5.5 lakh.
The Sangai Express carried the report after talking to D Abonmai.
