Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam, Speaker of Manipur Legislative Assembly Th Lokeshwar Singh, Lok Sabha MP (Inner Manipur) Dr T Meinya, MLA Th Shyamkumar, Chairman of Ukhrul ADC, Dr Yaronsho Ngalung, Manipur People's Party (MPP), Manipur Hill Journalists' Union (MHJU) and Zeliangrong Baudi (AMN) have extended heartiest Christmas and New Year greetings to the people of the State especially Christian brethren.
In his message, Gaikhangam said that Jesus Christ died on the cross for the mankind.
He wished that the festival brings love, harmony, peace, development and prosperity in the State.
Greeting the people, Speaker Th Lokeshwar reminded all concerned about the supreme sacrifice made by Jesus Christ for the betterment of human beings.
He wished the celebration of Christmas brings in peaceful coexistence among all communities of the State who have lived together since time immemorial.
MLA Th Shyamkumar wished that all woes and suffering be cast away from the surface of Manipur and hatred and disunity among the different communities of the State be washed away with the celebration of Christmas.
He also wished that happiness, prosperity, love and tranquillity pour in with the coming of the New Year.
Dr Yaronsho Ngalung urged the Christian community of Ukhrul district to renew their hearts with new hope with the coming of Christmas.
He called upon the people to forgive and forget the past mistakes as Jesus, the Prince of peace and King of kings, is born to us.
Also saying that this year is very significant for the Nagas, the ADC Chairman urged all the Naga political groups struggling for the cause of Nagas to unite and reconcile in order that the common goal of the Nagas is achieved.
He thanked PM Narendra Modi and RN Ravi for the milestone achievement in the Naga peace process.
MPP wished the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ ushers in love and peace among the different ethnic communities of the State.
Extending warm greetings to the people on the auspicious occasions of Christmas and New Year, Manipur Hill Journalists Union (MHJU) urged everyone in Manipur to work more wholeheartedly for peace so that the importance of Christmas and its essence for 'peace on earth' do not go in vain.
ZB (AMN) urged all concerned to celebrate Christmas with joy and re-dedicate to imbibe the essence of Jesus Christ's teachings and His eternal message of love, compassion and forgiveness.
