PREPAK duo held, AK parts seized

Imphal, November 23 2012: A team of Imphal East district police commandos arrested one woman cadre of PREPAK identified as Laishram (O) Rasheshori Devi (30) w/o L Iton Singh of Yourabung Khunou from her residence on November 21 and in follow up action seized an assortment of gun parts.

According to a statement issued by Imphal East SP, one .32 pistol with magazine along with two live rounds were recovered from her possession.

The same day, another PREPAK cadre identified as Laishram Iton alias Nanda Singh (34) s/o (L) L Ludra of Yourabung Khunou was also arrested at Yourabung Khunou Waiting Shed.

One AK-65 rifle with one magazine along with five rounds and one Nokia handset and a SIM card were recovered from his possession.

Iton was with the KCP from 1994 to 1995 and joined PREPAK in 2004, it said.

He was involved in extortion of money from the general public, private firms etc and transportation of arms and ammunition.

During the course of investigation a huge cache of arms and parts of AK rifle were recovered from the homestead garden of one W Ibomcha of Sawombung Thongkhong Makha Leikai, added the statement.

The seized AK rifle parts included, eight Receiver cover, seven Rotating Bolt, seven Piston Groove, Six Receiver Cover Stud, 12 Returning Spring, six Cleaning Road and seven gas cylinders.

Other items recovered included five AK magazines, four kenwood wireless sets, 1.5 kg of explosives and 80 rounds of AK ammunition.
