In aid of Sarita Rs 1,05,527 handed to boxer

A campaign jointly launched by the Manipur Olympic Association (MOA) and Editors Guild, Manipur (EGM) to raise the $2000 (Appx Rs 1,20,000) fine slapped on boxer Laishram Sarita and her coach Angom Lenin by the International Boxing Association (AIBA) concluded today at the conference hall of Manipur Olympic Bhavan located at Khuman Lampak.
85 individuals from all walks of life including persons residing abroad have donated Rs 1,05,527.Above that Works and Transport Minister Kh Ratan Kumar donated Rs 15,000 for the campaign.
The amount collected through the campaign was handed over to Sarita jointly by MOA President I Hemochandra, Works Minister Kh Ratan and YAS Parliamentary Secretary M Prithviraj and president of EGM, A Mobi.

Speaking at the simple function attended by members of MOA and EGM, Hemochandra stated that the incident that happened at the Incheon Asian Games was very unfortunate.
People responded to the campaign positively and this shows that people are ready to back sports persons whenever they are in despair.
The campaign can be termed as a noble work and it is not about the money but the moral and spiritual support.
Applauding the works of MOA and EGM, Sarita showed her gratitude towards the support given to her by the people of Manipur and added that she would do her best in the upcoming Rio Olympic Qualifying tournaments.
Sarita will leave for a special training session of 15 days at Liverpool under Olympic Quest Programme on October 22.She will then again attend the trial selection for the World Championship which is the Olympic qualifying tournament and is scheduled to be held at Kazakhstan on January 24, 2016.She is undergoing intense training under former Asian champion Dingku Singh at Aurangabad.
