Imphal, August 23 2011:
The Communist Party of india celebrated its 63rd foundation anniversary with the State unit secretary of the political organisation Dr M Nara hoisting the party flag at the Takyel Kolom Leikai community hall in Patsoi assembly constituency today.
Among others CPI national and State unit functionaries including L Iboyaima Singh, N Mangi Singh, P Parijat Singh and Th Tomba Singh were also present at the celebration function.
In his address, CPI National Council Member N Mangi Singh, with apparent reference to the prevailing situation, said Manipur is not a land for any particular community or tribe but belongs to the entire population.
Calling upon all the community to strive for promoting peace and tranquillity in the State, he also appealed to all concerned to refrain from enforcing bandh, blockade or any form of agitation, especially against disrupting vehicular movement along the National Highways, that imperils livelihood of the common people.
Rather there should be synergy in the effort of people in both the hills and the valleys of Manipur to eradicate poverty from the State, Mangi expressed.
Speaking at the occasion, Dr Nara highlighted that CPI came into being to address plight and grievances of the oppressed and exploited section of the society.
Affirming that CPI is committed to protecting unity and integrity of Manipur at all cause, the former Minister reminded that only through development could the problems besieging Manipur be solved amicably.
