Imphal, December 22 2017:
The Thadou Students' Association, General Headquarters (TSA-GHQ) serves an ultimatum to the Home Department, Government of Manipur for failing to bring justice in the Sugnu double murder on May 5, 2017 .
Mention may be made that 21-year-old Miss Nengkhokim Haokip alias Cecilia alias Shila, a private school teacher, was gang-raped, brutally murdered and her dead body was found at Muoltinchan Village Road Junction near Sugnu.
28-year-old Mr Kaikholen Tuboi was also found brutally murdered at a spot about a kilometre apart.
Even after seven months, the culprits have not been brought to justice to date.
If the government is really serious about such a heinous crime and fulfilling the Memorandum of Understanding reached with the JAC on May 6, the culprits would have been arrested long time back and justice already delivered.
In connection with this murder case, a team of TSA has met with the Superintendent of Police, Kakching District on December 12, 2017 at his Chamber in the presence of SDPO Kakching and Sugnu and this was followed up by TSA.
Also, TSA has previously made a press release urging the authority to take effective actions for speedy justice in the case.
However, no satisfactory action has been taken up to date.
TSA is now left with no option, but to launch an intense agitation statewide if there is no development in bringing justice in this case within 10th January, 2018 .
