In yet another case of poll related violence, three of a family sustained severe injuries during a brawl after Panchayat election re-poll at Heirok last night.
The injured victims are identified as Kabrambam Tombi (48) of Heirok Part II Litan Makhong, his wife K Mema (42) and their son Royal (28).According to the family members and relatives of the injured victims, the house of the victims was attacked with stones at about 9 pm yesterday.
But when Royal went out and asked the attackers the motive of their attack and to stop pelting stones, a mob led by two brothers �� Maibam Chinglen and Kendu of the same locality, thrashed Royal all over his body.
The thrashing continued even when his family members came out and tried to pacify the mob.
They did not spare women and elders.
Consequent upon assault on her left cheek with torch light butt, Mema felled down unconscious.
Later the situation was put under control with the arrival of Thoubal police and the injured rushed to Thoubal District Hospital.
The more serious ones were referred to RIMS.
As Mema sustained injuries in the head and her condition was serious, she was referred to JN Hospital where her husband and son are also undergoing treatment.
On being asked, the family members disclosed that the assault was related to the Panchayat election.

Herojit, another son of Mema, was inner agent for a female Zilla Parishad candidate belonging to the another locality.
The supporters of one Maibam Thoinu, another Zilla Parishad candidate belonging to the same locality as Herojit, were furious against Herojit working for the rival candidate who belongs to another locality.
The stone pelting at the house of Tombi and the brutal physical assault against his family members might have been fuelled by Herojit's act of supporting the rival candidate, disclosed the relatives.
