Imphal, September 21:
Continuing its tirade against the Chief Minister, the Working Committee of the Apunba Lup today said that the off handed dismissal of the agitation launched by the students is indicative of the fact that the Chief Minister does not really understand the true worth of a text book.
In a statement, the Lup said that the remarks of the Chief Minister that students are being forced to burn old and used text books exposes his lack of knowledge adding that it may be because of this that New Delhi has refused to listen to the grievances of the people.
The statement further said that the remark of the Chief Minister that the Armed Forces Special Powers Act will not be lifted as long as there is militancy and as long as there is extortion shows that the CM has not been able to identify the root cause of the people's angst.
Militancy is an issue to be faced by the State, said the Lup and added that in the name of fighting militancy, the people should not be made the scape goats.
As for the extortion stand, the Lup said there is practically no difference between the extortion carried out by different groups and the 10 pc the Chief Minister charges for any work to be executed.
Everyone knows how the Chief Minister has been milking the people dry through rampant corruption and added that transfers and postings of Government officials always come with a price tag.
