Aspiring BJP candidate now eyes another party

In a major political development ahead of the ensuing 11th State Legislative Assembly election, Pangeijam Saratchandra, an aspiring BJP candidate from Heingang Assembly Constituency, who was preparing to contest the election on the party ticket has decided to join another National party.
Addressing a press conference at Heingang Mayai Leikai today, Saratchandra said that he was preparing to contest the election on BJP ticket since the last four years but unexpectedly his name was not included in the finalised list of the party candidates for the forthcoming election.
"Since BJP has undermined me by not alloting the party ticket despite working for it for the last many years, I have decided to join another National party as per the wishes of the people of Heingang Constituency", he said.
He claimed under his supervision around 13, 000 people and 190 active members from Heingang A/C were enrolled in BJP .
Stating that BJP was not a sought-after political party in the constituency in the past years, Saratchandra contended that he had actively taken part in the renovation of BJP State Unit complex at Nityaipat Chuthek.
He said that he will put in hard effort to defeat BJP candidate in the forthcoming election.
Referring to the ongoing economic blockade imposed by United Naga Council (UNC), Saratchandra questioned the BJP's stand on ending the blockade.
Co-convenor of BJP Heingang Mandal Intellectual Cell, Ngasekpam Brojen who was present at the meet said that the dark side of BJP came to the fore when it allotted the party ticket to undeserving candidates.
He expressed deep regret over the allotment of BJP ticket to its intending candidates for the election.
Also taking part in the press conference, president of BJP Heingang Mandal Chingakham Iboyaima declared that the mandal will no longer exist.
