Pharmacy owner sets record straight

Reacting to the accusations of sale of illegal drug items by an underground outfit follow-ing a bomb attack at Bobby Pharmacy, the pharmacy's proprietor Moirangthem Bobby has clarified that he did not sell any illegal drug items at his chemist shop.
It may be noted that Bobby Pharmacy, Lamlong Bazar located at Tinsid Road was destroyed in a bomb attack in the wee hours of December 15 .
The proscribed outfit, NRFM had claimed responsibility for the bomb attack the following day and cited that the attack was carried out for disregarding their repeated warnings to stop selling of illegal drugs.
Speaking in this regard here at Manipur Press Club, the proprietor of the chemist shop clarified that he did not sell any illegal drug items.
He stated that he received one message on WhatsApp from an unknown number demanding a sum of Rs 15 lakh in the name of underground outfit, NRFM in June but there has not been any communication between him and the outfit afterward.
Denying the charges, Bobby said that he did not sell any kind of banned drug items and only deals in approved and licensed drugs only.
Besides selling drugs, he also used to provide first aid and injection (anti-rabies and TT) to customers at the chemist shop which also served as a diagnostic sample collection point.
He stated that he had shut down his shop after the November 14 incident where an IED which was planted in front of his shop was picked up by a person and seized by security personnel near the residence of MLA L Susindro.
Following the incident, he tried to communicate with those who had served him monetary demand but failed to reach them and eventually re-opened the shop after a week, he said and continued that he has lost his only source of income following the December 15 blast.
