With the kick-off to this year's edition of the Sangai Festival just two days away, hectic activities are seen at Hapta Kangjeibung, the main venue of the annual tourism festival.
Construction of stalls and replicas of the traditional houses of Meitei, Tangkhul, Mao, Kuki, Meitei Pangal, Rongmei, Thadou, Chothe and Paite are on the verge of completion.
Electrification and beautification works including sweeping and mopping are going on in full swing at Hapta Kangjeibung, Chandrakirti auditorium, BOAT and Iboyaima Shumang Leela Shanglen.
Iboyaima Shumang Leela Shanglen would host Shumang Leelas (courtyard plays) everyday at 3 pm starting from November 22 .
Installation of decorative electric lamps on Sanjenthong bridge which was inaugurated yesterday was also going on at a hectic pace.
Meanwhile, security arrangements in and around the festival venues have been beefed up.
To add to the festive atmosphere, colourful flags have been raised along all major roads of Imphal city.
Burnt out street lamps are also being replaced along these roads.
