Imphal, May 18 2014 :
Decrying inaction by the government regarding complaints from candidates on alleged errors in answer keys of the MPSC-conducted civil services combined examination 2014 (Prelims), Joint Students Coordination Committee (JSCC) said until and unless justifiable clarification is issued main examination of the same should not be held.
Speaking to newspersons at the Keishampat Sega Road office of KSA today, JSCC convenor Thangjam Premananda said State Government was already approached to institute a high power committee to probe allegations of answer key errors in the Manipur Civil Services Examination (Preliminary) 2014 conducted on April 24 in 24 centres with a total of 12,000 candidates appearing in it.
In addition to the Government ignoring humble suggestion that the controversy could be amicably settled by ordering investigation the MPSC Secretary too seem uninterested in resolving the issue for the same had already been intimated to the MPSC official, Premananda said who also ridiculed the MPSC declaring the preliminary examination results in three phase between May 13 to May 16 .
Expressing that phased-wise declaration of examination results compels one to suspect favouritism and corruption in the selection process, he wryly proposed that conduct of Manipur civil services examinations be entrusted to either the UPSC or body more competent that MPSC rather than causing inconveniences to the candidates.
Joining the media briefing, JSCC member M Angamba likened the error-filled MPSC-conducted combined civil services examination to selection of grade IV employees.
The fact that no less that 15 errors have been highlighted in the question paper/answer keys only confirms incompetency of so-called MPSC question setters or subject experts, said the member who also asserted that till the controversy has been settled the main examination would be prohibited at any cost.
