Imphal, December 17 2019:
Appealing the State Government to release the salaries of the teachers before Christmas, the Joint SSA and RMSA Teachers' Association Manipur (JSRTAM) has urged the Government to bring a permanent solution to the association's demand for permanent absorption of SSA and RMSA teachers into the Education Department.
Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club today, JSRTAM vice president N Prakashchandra said that since the SSA and RMSA teachers were given regular appointment in Government schools in 2011, they have not been provided salaries in a consistent manner and they are not given any promotion avenues as well.
Claiming that the teachers have not received any salary for the past 5/6 months even now, Prakashchandra said that for the said teachers, there is no scope for any advance salaries.
More than 50 percent of the SSA and RMSA teaches are actively participating in the 'School Fagathansi' mission of the BJP led coalition Government but the inconsistent salary has created many problems for the teachers.
Chief Minister N Biren Singh also made an announcement on February 22 this year claiming that the SSA and RMSA teachers will be absorbed, he reminded, appealing the Government to absorb the said teachers in a similar manner to how the contract teaching and non-teaching staff were absorbed by the Education Department.
On the other hand, he lamented that no RMSA teachers were included in the seniority list of graduate teachers which was issued by the Education (S) Directorate recently and added that this kind of action will only anger the SSA and RMSA teachers.
Prakashchandra then appealed to the Government to release the salaries of the teachers before Christmas and to absorb them as well.
