Girl abused, suspects' houses torched

Imphal, July 16 2011:
A minor girl of 14 was abducted and later set free after she was sexually assaulted, consequent upon which houses of the suspects were set ablaze by a mob.
The alleged sexual assault took place at Keirao under Irilbung police station in Imphal East district.
The victim's brother Md Rajauddin of Keirao Makting Mayai Leikai said that her sister went out to buy eggs from a nearby grocery shop at about 7 pm yesterday.
At about 7.30 pm, an SMS was received from the girl informing that she was being abducted by those individuals who had served monetary demands on her brother, Rajauddin said.
The local people searched for the girl the whole night but to no avail.
Subsequently, the matter was reported to Irilbung police station.
Another SMS saying that she had her legs tied and mouth gagged was received from the girl.
"It was not known whether the SMS was sent by my sister or the abductors.
They rang me again and let me hear sounds of my sister", Rajauddin conveyed.
"But when we rang back, the phone was never picked up", he said.
At about 4.30 am today, five youths came in a milky white car (Maruti Alto) and left the girl at the gate of Mouluvi Jalaludin with her eyes blindfolded and hands tied.
The car had no registration number and its window glass was of black colour.
The girl now undergoing treatment at RIMS still remains traumatised.
Medical examination has been conducted at forensic science department of the hospital.
The victim is a hockey player and is studying in class VIII.
Meanwhile, the houses of two youths who happened to be cousins and suspected to be involved in the bestial crime was vandalised and set ablaze by a mob at about 5 pm today.
The two suspects have been identified as Md Babul (23) and Md Hassan (20) of Keirao Makting Awang Leikai.
At the time when the mob vandalises the two houses, no one was present inside the houses.
