Senapati, October 15 2019:
The All Naga Students' Association, Manipur (ANSAM) has written to Chief Minister N Biren for "prompt and resolute implementation of Government order no.2/8(1)2016-H(L&O) dated 13-10-2019 vis a vis the Kuki Centenary Celebration of Kuki Rebellion, 1917-1919 stated for October 17, 2019 to let peace prevail in the State".
In its letter to the Chief Minister, the Naga student body said, "Considering all the accounts, the participation of State VIPs in the so called Centenary Celebration of Kuki Rebellion 1917-19 will amount to legitimising wrong claims made by the Kukis over the issue of the rebellion" .
Therefore, it urged the State authority and its machinery to avoid taking part in the "nefariously designed" event and to also take extra care so that no communities living in the State may be hurt.
"We fervently urge your good self to implement promptly the aforementioned Government order in toto to usher in peace and harmony among the communities in the State," the ANSAM letter added.
