Imphal, July 15:
Asserting that the three persons killed by a combined team of the Manipur police commandos and 22 MLI at Malom Bamdiar on July 14 were deserters, the proscribed RPF today said that the three fled from a camp on July 5.The three have been identified as Pvt Yaima alias Thangjam Jatish of Tripura, Pvt Luwang alias Ingudam Chaoba of Mayang Imphal and Leikaihanba alias Naorem Mukesh of Kakching Wairi.
In a statement, the outfit said that the three fled from the 252 Bn of the PLA on July 5 evening as they could not follow the rules of the outfit.
Out of the three, Naorem Mukesh deserted the UNLF on January 13 and since then has been kept under the custody of the PLA without admitting him to the party's fold.
He joined the UNLF in June 2004 and after undergoing basic military training was assigned army number 1930 of the MPA.
Before he joined UNLF, he used to work for PREPAK under one Sanjoy, it added.
Quoting reports received by the RPF, the statement said that Chaoba's brother who was with the PREPAK but was shot and left for dead by the outfit for violating its rules, survived and then became an informer of the police.
The elder brother of Chaoba was identified as Manja alias Premkumar.
Through Chaoba's elder brother, the three decided to surrender to the police commandos.
The night before they were killed, Chaoba's mother cooked a meal for them, said the outfit.
However in a new twist, the three who were seen talking to the police commandos were claimed to have been killed in an encounter the following morning, said RPF.
Two out of the three persons were accused of being the culprits who raped a housewife at Churachandpur on July 9, said RPF and added that instead of taking them to trial they were eliminated by the security forces.
This has sowed the seeds of a conspiracy theory, said the outfit and asserted that RPF has nothing to do with their action.
If the three were in our hands, then justice would have been delivered in a transparent manner, added the outfit.
Now that onus should lie on the Government, said the outfit and added that the atmosphere of confusion should be defused by the Government of India.
