Biren meets about 2000 people on Meeyamgi Numit
Separate verification to name beneficiaries: CM

Chief Minister N Biren Singh has said that the Government will not solely rely on BPL and AAY cards in the selection of beneficiaries for the newly launched social security schemes but separate camps will be held at different localities across the State to identify deserving poor and underprivileged people.
He was speaking to media persons on the sidelines of the monthly Meeyamgi Numit (People's Day) at the Durbar Hall of the Chief Minister's Secretariat today.
Stating that even many Government servants are found to have acquired BPL cards, N Biren said that spot verification is a must to crosscheck the details of beneficiaries.
The Chief Minister said that a large number of people are still not aware about the details of the social security schemes introduced by the Government.

As such, there is need to sensitise the public properly, he said while adding that he had instructed the authorities concerned to begin a publicity campaign from tomorrow onwards.
Responding to a query, the Chief Minister said that Manipur State Illness Assistance Fund (MSIAF) would be subsumed by Hakshelgi Tengbang, which is scheduled to be launched on Statehood Day, which falls on January 21.Responding to another question regarding 1800 pending applicants of Manipur State Illness Assistance Fund, the Chief Minister said that this needs to be reimbursed part by part by earmarking funds in the budget.
On the 9th Meeyamgi Numit today, the Chief Minister attended to around 800 complaints and personally met around 800 people from 9 am to 5.30 pm.
