Imphal, August 13:
Reiterating its stand, the Working Committee of the Apunba Lup today said that the Chief Minister should not come under the impression that the people's demand for the complete revocation of the Armed Forces Special Powers Act will be diluted by merely lifting the DAA from the Imphal Municipal areas.
In a statement, the Apunba Lup said that there will be no backing off from the present stand until and unless the Act is removed from the whole of the State and added that the police action on agitators will only galvanize the people to intensify the agitation.
The Lup also came down heavily on the statements issued by Rajya Sabha MP Rishang Keishing and added that it will not do anything good to stand against the wishes of the people just to seek the favor of New Delhi.
On the arrest of protestors, the statement said that the action of the police in trying to frame charges against them is highly unethical and there is no reason why the anger of the people will not be directed towards them at some point of time.
Canvassing for support in New Delhi will never yield any positive results, said the Apunba Lup and asked what Th Debendra and Dr T Meinya will say when they come back to Manipur.
