Imphal, November 12 2019:
A large number of womenfolk under the banner of Coordinating Body Khurai, tried to storm the residence of two BJP MLAs and one Congress MLA today afternoon, as a part of the COCOMI led agitation against any impact on Manipur due to the Naga peace talks.
The womenfolk gathered at Sangeet Kala Academy, Khurai Lamlong and launched a rally towards the residence of Khurai BJP MLA Leishangthem Susindro alias Yaima, raising various slogans.
Soon after the rally began, a large number of Imphal East police who were deployed in the area tried to prevent them from going further which led to a heated argument between the two sides.
Later some members of Coordinating Body Khurai and womenfolk were allowed to go inside the residence of the MLA.
However, Susindro was out of station and so the representatives had to make do with a telephonic conversation.
The people then decided to head towards the official quarters of Wangkhei Congress MLA, Okram Henry located at Babupura.
There again, they were prevented from going further by police personnel near Palace Gate.
Only some members were selected and allowed to meet the Congress MLA.
In a similar manner, the rally also headed for the residence of Kshetrigao BJP MLA Nahakpam Indrajit Singh and a few members were allowed to meet the MLA.
The MLA happened to be out of station and as such, the womenfolk had to place their demands to him via the mobile phone.
