Imphal, October 11 2015:
The Meitei Nationalist Party (MNP) has decried that both the Government of India and the Government of Manipur have been following different patterns of administration in the hills and valley of Manipur.
Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club here this afternoon, MNP president Brahmacharimayum Angousana said that adoption of different modes of administration has been exacerbating segregation of hill people from plain people and vice versa.
To address this malady, all the communities of Manipur including Meiteis should be given ST status and Manipur should be recognised as a tribal State, Angousana said.
Protection of Meitei community would prove to be a reliable safeguard for other communities too.
For ages, Meiteis and other communities of Manipur were fighting together against foreign aggression from China and Myanmar.
Declaring that MNP has no separatist agenda, Angousana said that the party would work for all the communities of Manipur.
To a query, Angousana said that MNP is a political party set up recently.
The party's constitution is being drafted and due processes have been initiated to obtain Election Commission of India's recognition.
MNP neither restricts all its faith in electoral politics nor is securing administrative power its sole objective.
The framework agreement signed between NSCN-IM and Government of India should be rejected.
Some proposals would have been raised for the framework definitely but nothing has been divulged so far, he said.
The State Government had no policy to check influx of outsiders into the State.
Angousana then blamed the Government for the mass movement for protection of indigenous people as well as the subsequent uproar raised in some hill districts against the three Bills passed by the State Government for protection of indigenous people.
Turning his tirade against BJP, Angousana questioned why the party is totally silent on the framework agreement.
BJP has been maintaining double-standard on the issue of AFSPA too.
He also accused BJP of politicising cows.
