The 26 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of IGAR (South) today organised a seminar at Pallel under the objective of providing a common platform for agencies concerned in sharing expertise towards effective management of National Highway 102 .
Rechristened recently, NH-102 connects the commercially important town of Moreh with Imphal.
a PRO IGAR (S) release, listing representatives of various departments such as NCB, Customs, Manipur Police, forest & Wildlife, state Taxation Department and IB, involved in management of National Highways, as participants of the seminar conveyed that all speakers spoke in detail to educate others regarding the functional capabilities and challenges of all concerned agencies.
The common platform provided by the seminar would provide necessary cohesion and synergy in future operations, making the management of NH very effective, the PRO expressed.

Highlighting that NH 102 sustains about 25 percent trade with Myanmar thus making it the lifeline of Manipur for trade from South East Asian, the PRO noted that being the only road link to the border town the route is also exploited by various anti-national elements to transport men and war like stores to Imphal valley.
Moreover, a host of contraband drugs, wildlife produce and timber are smuggled by unscrupulous traders through this stretch with substantial amount of money generated from smuggling activities contributing to acts of sabotage in the State, the PRO maintained.
