Imphal, July 10 2013:
While the proscribed PREPAK (Pro) claimed to have launched an offensive at the Behing village camp of 39 Assam Rifles on July 9 afternoon, a PRO IGAR (S) release issued today said no incident took place.
According to a statement issued by PREPAK-Pro's Department of Publicity and Propaganda's senior publicity officer Boby Mangang the attack carried out by its Sajik Task Force mobile Team 1 caused massive destruction of the AR camp in addition to inflicting injuries to the AR troops.
Noting ruling out possibility of casualties among the security personnel, Boby contended that the camp commander accorded warm welcome to the mobile team members for their successful mission launched at 1.30 pm.
Conveying that the attackers swooped in to the target located close to the international boundary from the Singhat direction of Churachandpur district, the senior publicity officer also said similar attacks would continue.
Contrary to Boby's claims, PRO IGAR (S) termed media reports about the attack as totally baseless and false.
Insisting that no gunfight occurred between troops of 35 Assam Rifles and PREPAK (Pro) cadres, the PRO statement maintained that situation in border areas continues to be in firm grip of the security force and the insurgent groups are not able to move or carry out any activity.
Consequently, they have resorted to rumour mongering and false propaganda as evident in this media report, added the statement.
