Open discussion on Manipuri cinema held

An open discussion programme on Manipuri cinema and people's views on it was held today at Lamyanba Shanglen, Palace Compound under the aegis of the Film Forum Manipur (FFM) .
FFM chairman L Surjakanta presided the discussion session which was moderated by Ningthouja Lancha.
Representatives of 36 different civil society organisations took part in the discussion programme where four resolutions were adopted.
The gathering strongly condemned the act of assaulting former FFM general secretary and film director Mayanglambam Raghumani (Epu) .
The speakers appealed to the group which assaulted Eepu to come out with a clarification before the public.
They also condemned the act of serving monetary demands on people working in Manipuri cinemas.
They appealed to all concerned to withdraw monetary demands served to people working in Manipuri cinemas.
The meeting agreed to hold another meeting with FFM and civil society organisations to work out a solution to the present impasse and save Manipuri cinema.
As agreed at today's gathering, a meeting would be held tomorrow at 1 pm at the office of FFM.
Notably, former FFM general secretary M Raghumani (Epu) was abducted some unidentified persons clad in olive green from his Lamphel Sanakeithel residence at around 1.30 am of March 3 before he was severely assaulted and abandoned at Lamdeng Khunou.
Since then, FFM has been staging different forms of protests demanding arrest of all the persons involved in the abduction and assault of Epu.
