The proscribed RPF/PLA has pulled up an impostor who was serving demand note and trying to extort a huge amount of money from an individual in the name of the outfit.
The impostor has been identified as Yumnam Chourjit (28) s/o Yumnam Brajamohan and Yumnam Ongbi Pashot Devi of Langmeidong Bazar while the individual to whom the demand note had been served is named as Nongmeikapam Inao Singh.
Parading Chourjit before mediapersons somewhere in Churachandpur district today, a spokesperson of the department and communication and publicity of the outfit informed that on September 23 last Chourjit served a demand letter of Rs 35,000 in the name of RPF/PLA to Inao who runs a shop at Langmeidong Bazar by taking advantage of the fact that Inao sells banned tobacco products like Zarda, Khaini, Talab and Meethamana.
As the party received the information, Chourjit was pulled up from his house yesterday and taken into custody for interrogation.
Along with admitting to his misdeeds, Chourajit has been given advises against such conduct in future.
In case, he does not heed to the warning that he should accept any punishment given by the party, the spokesperson said.
Clarifying that RPF/PLA had not taken any money in the form of tax or fine from all those people who have been pulled up in connection with selling tobacco products, the spokesperson said that if anyone is found taking money in the name of the outfit then appropriate action would be taken up against them.
Talking to mediapersons, Chourjit admitted to his malconduct and promise not to indulge in any activities that mislead the people and tarnish the image of the outfit.
He also admitted that he would accept any punishment given by the outfit if he acted otherwise in future.
After making him to ask forgiveness from the family members of Inao, Chourjit was been later handed over to his family members.
