CLP meets ahead of House session

After dismissal of the no-confi-dence motion moved by the Opposition Congress against the BJP led coalition Government, members of the CLP (Congress Legislature Party) met today to discuss their future course of action.
The meeting presided by CLP leader and ex-Chief Minister Okram Ibobi was held at his Babupara residential quarters at 5 pm.
During the meeting, the CLP members decided to discuss the confidence motion moved by the ruling party and take part in discussing the motion on the floor of the House.
The CLP members will meet again tomorrow at 5 pm.
It may be noted that the Opposition Congress had moved a no confidence motion and issued whip to all its Members.
Notably, the Manipur Legislative Assembly is scheduled to hold a one-day session on August 10.Meanwhile Congress MLA and spokesman K Meghachandra said that they would raise the issue of high-profile drug seizure case involving former Chandel ADC Chairman Lhukhosei Zou as well as the current issue of COVID-19.Even though some CLP Members were not present at the meeting, they assured that they would certainly take part in the Assembly session, according to Meghachandra.
Congress party has 24 MLAs in the State Assembly while BJP has 18 MLAs but the latter is supported by NPP, NPF and LJP.
