KPI police recovers vehicle 'robbed' by a police officer in one of the NE States

In a bizarre incident, a vehicle allegedly robbed by a Police Officer in another State of North East was recovered by Kangpokpi Police today.
The owner of the vehicle Heljamang, a resident of Keithelmanbi Military Colony in Kangpokpi District, said the incident occurred on October 20 at a place where he had bought a used i20 car from a dealer at Rs 4,80,000 .
He had left the newly bought car for servicing as he had a long drive ahead back to Manipur.
However in the evening the dealer of the vehicle called him and brought Police who allegedly handcuffed and took him to the Police Station.
At the Police Station, the Officer-in-charge questioned him for long hours where he was hiding drugs and all.
The next day he was taken to the servicing centre where he had kept his car for servicing and was forcibly made to sign on a blank sales deed.

The Police put him in a Manipur bound bus and warned him not to stop before reaching Manipur.
On reaching Manipur, he informed the SP Kangpokpi about the incident who sent a team to the Police Station in question and in close assistance with other senior IPS officers managed to recover the vehicles on November 5 and it was brought back to Kangpokpi.
SP Kangpokpi Karthik Malladi handed over the vehicle to Heljamang on November 6.Heljamang thanked SP Kangpokpi and other officers and personnel of the Police Department who made the swift recovery possible.
Speaking to the media, SP Karthik Malladi said it was unfortunate and outrageous that many looked at Manipuris as drug and arms traffickers.
Manipur Police will not tolerate any harassment, illegal detentions, robbery etc to the innocent people out of such presumptions, he added.
He also appealed to the people of the State to report any such incidents of harassment, illegal detentions, robbery etc.
in any other States to Manipur Police and assured that all help will be extended.
