Need for vaccination stressed

Covid vaccination advocacy cum panel discussion programmes have been successfully held at MBC and DSSS campus respectively.
The programmes were held yesterday at Manipur Baptist Convention at Chingmeirong and today at Diocesan Social Service Society (DSSS) campus with a bid to reach out to faith based organisations' leaders through orientation and panel discussions to encourage more people to get their vaccination jabs.
The programmes held in collaboration with MBC and Commissions of Catholic Churches (CCC) were funded and sponsored by State Health Society and National Health Mission.
The programmes were to sensitize and instil confidence on the people to come forward for vaccination.
State Health experts - Dr Sasheekumar Mangang, Additional Director of Medical Directorate; Dr N Shyamjai, State Mission Director (NHM), Dr Meena Seram, in-charge COVID-19 Testing, Medical Directorate and Dr Jubilee Wahengbam, in-charge Community Engagement, COVID-19, Medical Directorate were the resource persons for the programme who elucidated on the pandemic situation; importance of Covid vaccination including status, effects and impacts of the vaccine etc.
The health experts also spoke on myths and facts surrounding Covid vaccine, need for Covid testing and other frequently asked questions.
Through the programmes, the State Health Society also provided Information Education Communication (IEC) materials for distribution to the associations and parishes under MBC and CCC for cooperation during vaccination drives across districts in the State.
