Works minister K Ranjit today inaugurated four bridges constructed at different places under the funding from Non-lapsable Central Pool of Resources (NLCPR) and Special Plan Assistant (SPA) and handed over to the people.
The inaugurated bridges were at Bijoy Govinda on the Nambul river, Kiyamgei Mang Mapa on the Imphal river, Thoubal Hoakha and Thoubal Babu on the Thoubal river.
The minister inaugurated the bridge at Bijoy Govinda first which was constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 69.90 lakh under SPA.
The inauguration function was attended by local MLAs of Uripok and Sagolband Assembly constituencies, Loken abd Nandakumar.
This was followed by the inauguration of the bridge at Kiyamgei in Keirou A/C.Minister of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj and MOBC Md Allauddin Khan who is also the circle MLA took part in the inauguration function.
The bridge was constructed at a cost of Rs 861.66 lakh under NLCPR.
The inauguration of the bridges at Thoubal Haokha and Thoubal Babu was attended by MLA of Khangabok A/C, O Landhoni and MLA K Meghachandra, Speaking at the inauguration function at Thoubal, minister K Ranjit said that government is aware of the woes suffered by the people of the state due to the prolong economic blockade on the National Highways.
The suffering of the people was caused by NSCN (IM) leader Th Muivah who is intended to break the territorial integrity of Manipur by threatening innocent Nagas with arms to support him.
Government is determined to teach a lesson to Th Muivah, he said urging the people to be patience considering it as suffering to safeguard the integrity of the state.
At this juncture, people should cooperate with the government in preventing another great uprising like that of June 18 incident.
