HC admits 8 more petitions

The High Court of Manipur today admitted 8 more election petitions and issued notices to 8 MLAs (respondents) returnable on different dates of May and June.
Three election petitions was listed for hearing before a Single Bench of Justice Ahanthem Bimol.
The petitions were filed by Y Antas Khan against Lilong AC MLA Abdul Nasir, Laishram Radha-kishore against Oinam AC MLA Irengbam Nalini and Yumkham Erabot against Wangkhei MLA Thangjam Arunkumar.
Three other election petitions was also listed for hearing before another single Bench of Justice MV Muralidaran.
The petitions were filed by Chaltonlien Amo against Tipaimukh AC MLA Ngursanglur Sanate, Fajur Rahim against Wabagai AC MLA Usham Deben and Lourembam Sanjit against Andro AC MLA Thounaojam Shyamkumar Further, two more election petitions were listed for hearing before Justice Lanusungkum Jamir's Single Bench.
The petitions were filed by Oinam Lukhoi against Wangoi AC MLA Khuraijam Loken and Moirangthem Okendro against Heirok AC MLA Thokchom Radheshyam.
All the petitions were filed under sections 80, 80-A, 81 and 84 (read with section 100(1) (d) (i) (iv) and section 101) of the Representation of the Peoples Act 1951 challenging the election of the respondent MLAs from their respective Assembly constituencies as Members of the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly on the ground of improper acceptance of nomination papers by the concerned Returning Officers.
The petitioners prayed for declaring the election of the respondents as void and to declare them (petitioners) as duly elected Members of Manipur Legislative Assembly.
The petitioners alleged there are a number of mistake in the election affidavits filed by the respondents as they furnished wrong information, false statement about their age, educational qualification and non disclosure of their assets and liabilities.
Justice Lanusungkum Jamir, after hearing the submission of the petitioners' counsels, issued notice to Wangoi MLA Khuraijam Loken and Heirok MLA Thokchom Radheshyam returnable before May 26 and listed the matter on May 26 .
Justice MV Muralidaran issued notice to Tipaimukh MLA Ngursanglur Sanate and Wabagai MLA Usham Deben returnable on or before May 26 and listed the matter on the same day.
Justice MV Muralidaran issued another notice to Andro MLA Thounaojam Shyamkumar returnable on or before June 2 and listed the matter on the same day.
Similarly, Justice Ahanthem Bimol issued notice to Oinam MLA Irengbam Nalini returnable before May 30 and listed the matter for hearing on May 30 .
The same Court issued notice to Wangkhei MLA Thangjam Arunkumar returnable before June 9 and listed the matter on June 9.Lilong MLA Abdul Nasir was also issued a notice returnable before May 30 and listed the matter on May 30 .
Till today, the High Court of Manipur has admitted 24 election petitions.
Three more election petitions filed before the High Court have been listed for hearing tomorrow.
The petitions are filed by Sanglakpam Preshyojit Sharma against Thongju MLA Thongam Biswajit and others, Arubam Ibotombi against Lamsang MLA Sorokhaibam Rajen and Lunkhopao Haokip against Chandel MLA S S Olish and others.
